Monroe, NC (30.03.2015). Hapag Lloyd wird die Schiffe der 13.200 TEU Hamburg Express Klasse sowie weitere 15 Einheiten mit dem Pumpensteuerungssystem CM-1000 ausrüsten lassen. CM-1000 regelt die Fördermenge der Seekühlwasserpumpen anhand der Frischwassertemperatur und des aktuellen Kühlmittelbedarfs. Da nur die benötigte Seewassermenge in die Seewasserkühler gepumpt wird, wird eine erhebliche Menge elektrischer Energie an Bord eingespart. Die Schiffe der "Hamburg Express"-Klasse fahren im Liniendienst zwischen Fernost und Europa. Entsprechend der durchquerten Klimazonen ändert sich die Temperatur des Seewassers, das zur Kühlung verwendet wird, um 20 Grad und mehr. Zudem nimmt der Kühlbedarf durch Slow Steaming ab. Künftig steuert das System "CM-1000" die Seewasserpumpen im Kühlsystem mit variabler Drehzahl so, dass immer die exakt benötigte Menge an Seekühlwasser gefördert wird. Lars Voss, Senior Superintendent Hapag-Lloyd AG und Projektverantwortlicher: "Mit dem neuen System erwarten wir pro Schiff eine jährliche Einsparung von etwa 850 MWh und bis zu 16 t Schweröl pro Monat. Dies entspricht unserem Ship Energy Management Plan, mit dem wir einen umweltbewussten Schiffsbetrieb sicherstellen."
Die Einsparung bei den Betriebskosten an den Seekühlwasserpumpen könnten bis zu 85 Prozent erreichen, wobei der größte Teil auf die Einsparung elektrischer Energie entfällt .Neben dem Betrieb der Pumpen mit variabler Drehzahl regelt die "Active Valve Control" des CM-1000 Systems Ventile in der Seewasserleitung und passt die Anlagenkennlinie automatisch an, so dass die Pumpen stets im gewünschten Betriebspunkt gefahren werden und damit Kavitation verhindert wird. Auf Grund dieser positiven Erfahrungen will Hapag Lloyd 15 weitere Einheiten mit CM-1000 ausrüsten. Dazu gehören die 8.749 TEU-Container-Frachter der Colombo-, Prague- und Vienna-Flotte.
